Dispatcher/Jailer
Responsible for responding to emergency and non-emergency calls for law enforcement, fire and emergency medical services as well as city/county animal control, utilities and county/state road department service; identifies and dispatches appropriate public safety units; complies with County policies and procedures to ensure the safety of all public safety responders and the public, ensure the protection, welfare, safety, custody, and control of inmates in the Ringgold County Jail.
This is a full-time position and will consist of day and night shift hours, holidays, and weekends. All applicants must meet the minimum hiring standards.
- Be at least 18 years of age.
- Have a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Be able to read and write the English language.
- Pass a background check.
- Pass a pre-employment physical.
- Pass a psychological screening.
- Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Windows.
- Pass drug screen.
Duties will include, but not limited to, receiving information requiring law enforcement, fire and/or medical response and transferring the information via radio and/or phone to proper emergency or non-emergency services.
Due to Iowa code, female inmates must be supervised by female jailers.
